DEATH
BOULTBEE – On the 19th January 1910 at the residence of his niece (Mrs. Bromley Cox), “Clifton”, Devonport, Joseph Francis Boultbee, beloved husband of Jane Boultbee (late of Rock House, Avoca, and Trevallyn, Launceston), aged 82 years.
The Examiner 21st January 1910
Probably one of the oldest natives of Tasmania, in the person of Mr. Joseph Francis Boultbee, passed away on Wednesday, at the age of 82, at the residence of his niece (Mrs. Bromley Cox), Clifton, Devonport. The deceased was the son of the late Edwin Boultbee, who immigrated to Tasmania in the year 1824. He was born at Clarence Plains in the south of Tasmania, where his father first settled. In 1868 he acquired the Rock House estate (which belonged to his father), 12 miles from Avoca, consisting of 1300 acres, and held the property to the time of his death. He married in 1870, at Longford, Jane, eldest daughter of the late Henry Cay Adams, and granddaughter of the late Rev. Dr. Adams, of Halsted, England. There is no issue of the marriage.
The Examiner 22nd January 1910
Mr J. F. Boultbee, who was a landed proprietor in the Avoca district many years ago, passed quietly away at Devonport last week. The old gentleman, who was 82 years of age, had become increasingly feeble, and almost blind, and for several months had been living with his niece, Mrs. J. B. Cox, at whose residence his death occurred. The remains were interred privately on Friday, the Rev. J. Ebery conducting the service.
