Sudden Death
Mrs. Arthur Bowden died suddenly at her home, some four miles from Ulverstone, yesterday morning. The farm on which deceased had resided with her husband for many years is some distance off the Forth road, at the back of "Westwood," near the Clayton rivulet. Yesterday morning Mr. and Mrs. Bowden went to the cow shed as usual and when the last cow was to be milked, she asked her husband to commence to separate the milk. Mr. Bowden returned to the separating room and finding that his wife was a long time in returning, sent one of the children to see where she was. In consequence of the child's report he hurried to the cowshed, to find his wife lying there dead. Sergeant C. E. Tomkinson, of Ulverstone, was communicated with and he went to the home of deceased in company with Dr. L. Gollan. On their return, the matter was reported to the coroner (Hon. H. A. Nichols), who ordered a post-mortem examination of the body. This will take place today and an inquiry will also be held at the residence. The late Mrs. Bowden was a daughter of Mr. Josiah Chilcott and the late Mrs. Chilcott, of North Motton and there are many relatives in the Leven district. A sad feature is that she has left a family of seven children, the eldest being 15 and the youngest four. Deceased was 38 years of age. The funeral takes place tomorrow, leaving the residence at 12.45 p.m. for the Forth Methodist cemetery. Members of the Star of Forth Rechabite Tent, of which Mr. Bowden has been a member for many years, are asked to attend the funeral.Last Rites
