Age 38 years
River Don
During the past three or four days several circumstances have occurred which call for remark.
On Saturday morning, the 10th inst., a sad and fatal accident occurred to a man in the employ of Messrs. Cummings, Raymond, and Co., named Hugh Cameron. He was falling a tree and it caught in the fork of another tree, and the butt end rose to a distance of 30 feet in the air, the man ran for a considerable distance, but the tree still appearing over him, he turned to run back again, and was in the act of doing so, when the fork of the tree gave way, and the whole weight came down upon the unfortunate man, who was killed instantaneously. Some time elapsed before he was extricated, and a most shocking spectacle presented itself. The deceased leaves a widow and one little boy, and much sympathy is expressed for her in these trying circumstances. It has caused a feeling of awe to come over the district.
