The Advocate 23 May 1917

The mortal remains of the late Mr. W. F. Clements were consigned to their last resting-place at the Mersey Bluff cemetery yesterday afternoon. The Rev. F. A. Leeder conducted a short service at the residence, and the mourners then went to the Baptist church. The Rev. V. G. Britton offered prayer and the Rev. F. A. Leeder read the scriptures; two of the deceased’s favourite hymns were sung and Miss Bates played “The Dead March in Saul” on the organ. The chief mourners were the four sons of the deceased (Frank, Bert, Fred and Cliff), and Messrs. E. T. and F. E. Clements (brothers). The pallbearers were Messrs. A. W. Marshall, T. Miller, H. Sharman and A. J. Stokes. The bearers were Messrs. H. W. Andrews, G. Lawler, T. Walsh, and J Watkinson. There was a large number of beautiful floral tokens of sympathy, and the attendance was large and representative. The Rev. F. A. Leeder conducted the concluding part of the religious service at the grave, and P.C.R. Bro. H. W. Andrews read the Rechabites’ funeral address.
