OBSEQUIES – The funeral of the late Miss Elizabeth Counsel arrived at the Forth about 3 p.m. yesterday and was very largely attended. People from all the surrounding districts were present. The remains were placed in the church pending interment to-day, when the Rev. Father O’Dwyer, of Stanley, will officiate

ABOUT PEOPLE

The death occurred at the Mersey Hotel, East Devonport, on Saturday, of Miss Elizabeth Counsel, third daughter of the late Mr. L. Counsel, ”Stormanston,” Gawler. The deceased had been ailing from Bright’s disease and it was only upon taking up her residence with her brother, Mr. P. Counsel, about a fortnight ago, that she realized the seriousness of her case. She is a sister of Mr. E. A. Counsel, Surveyor-General and was greatly respected throughout the Gawler district. The funeral will take place at the Forth cemetery to day, leaving the Mersey Hotel at 1 p.m.

Age 83 years The sad intelligence of the death of Mrs. Counsel, relict of the late Mr. Laurence Counsel, became known yesterday morning (writes our Ulverstone correspondent). The esteemed lady, who had reached the ripe age of 83 years, passed away at her residence “Stromaston,” Gawler, leaving eight children to mourn their loss, including Mr. E. A. Counsel (Surveyor General of the state). The family were among the earliest resident in these parts.
