ATTEMPTED SUICIDE – Yesterday afternoon word was sent to the police that Mrs. Doran, a resident of William Street, had threatened to take her life by jumping into the Mersey, and that she had been prevented from carrying our her purpose by a man named Arthur Reid, who had witnessed the attempt. Sergeant Filby proceeded to the locality, and found Mrs. Doran in a very excited condition, and deploring the fact that life was not worth living. Upon being questioned, it appeared that her cows had been impounded, and this had completely upset her. Eventually she calmed down, and returned home with her friends.

MEMORIAM

DORAN
In loving remembrance of my dear husband, Robert Henry Doran, who died at Devonport on January 7, 1906
Some may think it weak and wrong
To let my tears so often flow.
But those who have lost a father’s love
Alone can feel my bitter woe.

Dearest father, thou has left us.
We thy loss most deeply feel;
But ’tis God who hath bereft us,
He can all our sorrow a heal.

Inserted by his loving wife and sons.
