GOWANS – On March 3 at his late residence, Spreyton, David, beloved husband of Mary Ann Gowans, aged 45 years.

FUNERAL

The funeral of the late Mr. David Gowans will leave his late residence, Spreyton at 1 p.m., on Sunday, March 5, for the Mersey Bluff Cemetery, Devonport. W. Jeffrey, Undertaker

The death occurred at Spreyton yesterday of Mr. David Gowans, at the age of 45 years. The deceased was a son of Mr. Thos. Gowans, a well-known resident of Glengarry, who is over 90 years of age. He was born at Strathlyn, West Tamar and for a number of years he conducted the Bracknell Hotel. Some eight years ago he retired from business and purchased a property at Spreyton from Mr. S. Kelcey, where he has since resided. He leaves a widow to mourn her loss. The funeral will take place at the Mersey Bluff cemetery tomorrow, leaving his late residence at 1 p.m.

The death occurred on Friday afternoon at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. W. J. Mann, of Mrs. Mary J. Gowans, widow of the late Mr. Walter Gowans , of Devonport. Deceased had not been well for some time past and heart trouble, together with a general breakdown, proved fatal. A native of Oatlands, deceased had spent all her life in Tasmania, having moved from her home district to Spreyton about 15 years ago. She leaves a family of three daughters and five sons. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at the Bluff Cemetery, the last sad rites being performed by the Rev. Geo Rowe, B.A. The four sons of deceased were the pall-bearers.
