The funeral will leave the residence of deceased at 1.30pm tomorrow for St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Forth.

Funeral
The funeral of the late Daniel Healy of Kindred, took place on Sunday afternoon in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Forth. There was a large gathering of people to pay a last tribute of respect to the memory of one who had resided in the district a quarter of a century, and helped in no small measure to make Kindred the important agricultural centre it is today. The long procession was met a mile outside Forth by members of the I.O.O.F. Lodge, who proceeded the hearse to the church, into which the coffin was taken, and the first portion of the service for the dead was read by Rev. M.J. Dowling, who paid an eloquent tribute to the character of deceased as a man, and his devotion to the land of his birth. The chief mourners were the three sons – Timothy, Cornelius and Daniel – and Misses Margaret and Susan, daughters. The pallbearers were Cr. Jas Leary, Messrs. Dennis, Cornelius and H. Collier. The coffin was borne to the grave by four nephews of deceased – J., D. and C. Leary and J. Hayes. Great sympathy was expressed for the bereaved widow and family. A large number of beautiful wreaths were laid on the grave.

An old ex-West Coaster, who will be recalled by only the few surviving warriors of the time the Zeehan-Strahan railway was being constructed, passed over to the great majority on Friday, when Mr. Daniel Healy, of Kindred died. Dan., who hailed from Borrisokane, in Tipperary, was a typical stone-thrower. Broad and sinewy at his best, it took a good man to wrestle, box, row, run or jump with him and in weight-putting he was in a class alone. He worked on the construction of the railway from Zeehan to Strahan and did not tarry long after the job was finished. He married Mrs. Sheehan who will be remembered in the Trial Harbour days, and settled at Kindred, where he carried on successfully as a farmer for many years.

Another Pioneer Passes:
Mrs. S. Healy, widow of the late Mr. D Healy, passed away at her residence, “Clover Hill,” Kindred, yesterday, at the age of 71. She was a resident of the district for half a century, during which period she and her late husband transformed a bush run into a well-cleared agricultural farm. Mrs. Healy was typical of the early pioneers who settled on the Coast lands, kindly of disposition, hospitable and ready at all times to respond to the call for assistance. She was actively identified with any movement calculated to advance the interests of the people of the district. She leaves a family of three sons, Messrs Timothy, Cornelius and Daniel, and two daughters, Misses Margaret and Susan, all of whom resided with their mother. Her husband predeceased her about eight years ago. Deceased was a sister of Mrs. James Leary, Melrose, Mrs Cornelius Leary, Upper Castra, and Mrs. James Connors, Railton. Mrs. Healy was an ardent worker in any movement connected with the Roman Catholic Church. OBITUARY
Late Miss M. M. Healy Ulverstone
The death occurred at her home, Risby Street Ulverstone on Tuesday of Miss Margaret Mary Healy, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. D Healy of Kindred, and a native of that district. The deceased was known and respected throughout the Leven municipality, and the cortege which followed the remains to their last resting place was one of the largest and most representative in the district for many years. Centres from Sisters Creek to Deloraine were represented, and, it was stated, every home in the Kindred district also. Until she was stricken with a serious illness about three years ago the deceased took a keen interest in district affairs, and charitable work always met with her sympathetic support. She was closely connected with St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Forth. Taken seriously ill about three years ago, the deceased became an invalid, and despite every care and attention she gradually became worse. She was an inmate of the Levenbank Hospital for 12 months. The funeral took place Boxing afternoon. The cortege moved from Risby Street for St. Joseph’s Church, Forth, where a service was conducted By Rev. Father M. J. Dowling. He spoke of the wonderful personality of the deceased to please all. The fact that there was such a large gathering at the funeral gave some indication of her popularity. The chief mourners were the deceased’s sister, Miss Susie Healy, and brothers Messrs. Timothy, Cornelius and Daniel Healy. The carriers were Messrs. W. J. McMahon, Con Leary, J. Leary and Jim Leary; and the pallbearers, Messrs. J. J. O’Connor, Phil Kelly, M.H.A., D. H. Palmer, J. M. Hays, J. Palmer and F. Geale. There were a large number of floral tributes, including wreaths from the matron and staff of the Levenbank Hospital.
