Headstone
General Heathcote, C.B., was an Imperial officer. He came to Tasmania with the object of taking up land at Castra and was accompanied by his wife, sister-in-law and five children. He died soon after. His eldest son, Mr. Frank Heathcote, was manager of the Tasmania mine. Mr. Harry Heathcote, the second son, fought in the South African War and died in Africa. The three daughters returned to England with their mother and aunt. Extract from "Forefathers of the Hamlet"
