JOLLIFFE – On September 4, at his residence, Devonport, Alfred Jolliffe, of Merthyr Tydvil, South Wales, England, aged 64 years. Private interment. No flowers by request

The death occurred suddenly last night of Mr. Alfred Jolliffe, of Devonport at the age of 64 years. The deceased was forced to take to his bed only on Monday and bronchial pneumonia developed and he gradually sank. He was the youngest son of the late Mr. John Mayne Jolliffe, of Merthyr-Tydvil, Wales and came to Launceston 27 years ago. Some 16 years later he removed to Devonport, where he carried out the business of a monumental mason. He leaves a widow and four young sons in Devonport and also two sons, Messrs Charles Jolliffe, of the Postal Department, Hobart and A. E. Jolliffe, Wynyard and one daughter, Mrs. Johnson, of New Town, Hobart, by his first marriage. The remains will be privately interred.
