Caroline Sophia Jordison
Don Congregational Cemetery
Deep regret was expressed at Devonport yesterday afternoon when it became known that Mrs. John Jordison had breathed her last. The deceased lady who was a daughter of Mrs. Inge, of Steele Street, West Devonport, had only been seriously ill for a few days, and the news of her death came as a painful surprise to many of her friends, who were not aware that she had been ill. Her husband is well known in the Mersey district, being in the employ of Messrs. W. L. Wells & Co. The deceased, who was 34 years of age, leaves one young child.

Mr. John Jordison
The death occurred at his home Aberdeen, on Tuesday, of Mr. John Jordison, a well-known farmer and businessman in the Devonport district. The late Mr. Jordison was born at Bermondsey, England, on August 11, 1847, and the first 13 years of his life were spent in the Old Country. He was educated at Friends’ School, later serving his apprenticeship as a grocer. He followed this calling during the greater part of his life. After carrying on business for seven years at St. Kilda Mr. Jordison went to Don, remaining there until 1906, when he took a farm at Aberdeen, where he opened a store in 1910.
He was married twice. His first wife was Miss Caroline Inge, of Hobart, and there was one daughter of this marriage. His first wife predeceased him many years ago, and subsequently he married Miss A. Freakley, then of Don. The surviving members of the family are the widow and Mrs. G. Hughes (Melbourne), Miss Florrie and Bessie Jordison and Mr. Ray Jordison, of Aberdeen. Another daughter died some years ago.

The late Mr. J. Jordison
The funeral of the late Mr. John Jordison took place on Friday, the place of interment being the old cemetery at Don. The late Mr. Jordison was a staunch friend of children, and a touching feature of the funeral was the attendance of the scholars of the little school at Aberdeen, in charge of the headmaster (Mr. Healy). The cortege was headed by the school children, who formed up in lines on both sided of the entrance to the church while the coffin was borne into the building, where the Rev. Warburton Hughes (Methodist) conducted a service. He was assisted by Mr. Richardson (circuit steward), who made reference to the fine character of the late Mr. Jordison and his love of children.
The chief mourners were the widow, Misses E. and F. Jordison (daughter), and Mr. R. Jordison (son). The carriers were Messrs. E. A. Bramich, H. G. Bott, R. Weeks and R. Keep, and the pallbearers were Messrs. H. H. Denney, B. Bott, A. Bramich and J. Napper.
Included in a beautiful display of wreaths were floral tributes from the directors of the River Don Trading Company, the Aberdeen Methodist congregation and friends, the Aberdeen Methodist Sunday School and the Badminton Club.
