SYMPATHY
The members of the Mersey Ladies Rowing Club wish Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Lawson to accept their deepest sympathy in the loss of their daughter Mary, who was a very prominent member of that club.
The Advocate 21 March 1922
Keen regret was expressed in Devonport yesterday at the news of the death of Miss Mary L. Lawson, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Lawson, which occurred at a late hour on Sunday night. Deceased was at her father’s place of business on Wednesday, but had to leave work owing to becoming suddenly ill. The disorder was diagnosed as appendicitis, and an operation was performed on Thursday, but despite all that medical aid and nursing could do she passed away as stated at the age of 18 years. She was a very popular girl, was a member of the Mersey Ladies’ Rowing Club, and previously had enjoyed the best of health. Her eldest sister, Miss Violet Lawson, who is teaching at Smithton, was summoned and arrived prior to the end. The sincerest sympathy will be extended to the bereaved parents and members of the family. The funeral leaves the parents’ residence at 4.30 this afternoon, and as a mark of respect the various boot establishments of the town will close at 4 o’clock.
