Age 66 years MR. DENIS LEARY passed away at his residence, East Devonport, on Saturday morning, at the age of 66 years. He had been ailing for some time and had visited Melbourne on several occasions to consult specialists, but the end was only postponed. Mr. Leary was born at Westbury and came to the North-West when a youth. He took up a farm in the Forth district, where he married and reared a family of eight. He was one of the leading residents of his district. Many years ago he was a member of the Don Road Trust and for a period was chairman. Failing health over a year ago induced him to leave the farm and take up residence at Devonport, with his wife, for whom as well as the members of the family sincere sympathy will be expressed. He was an elder brother of Cr. James Leary, of Melrose, while another brother is Mr. Con. Leary, of Upper Castra. The family are all living, the sons being engaged in farming in the Forth district. They are Messrs. John, Denis and Con Leary. The daughters all reside in the North West and all are married. They are Mrs. Susan Buxton (Wilmot), Mrs. Percy Ryan and Mrs. David Flight (Melrose), Mrs. Jack McCarthy and Mrs. Bern Smith (Forth). Sudden Death at Kindred

THE CORONER”S INQUEST

DEATH FROM HEART FAILURE.
An inquest was held at Kindred on Saturday by Mr. T. Collett, coroner, into the circumstances connected with the death of a married woman named Nora Leary, who had died suddenly the night previous. A jury of seven were empanelled consisting of Messrs Joseph Smith (foreman), T. B. Smith, E. Lee, W. Russell, Douglas Hope, H. J. Arnold and W. Arnold. George Gordon Stuart, a duly qualified medical practitioner, residing at Ulverstone, stated he was called by telephone from Sprent at 7.20 on Friday night. Left at once, arriving at the residence of deceased a few minutes after 9 p.m. Found Mrs. Robertson, the nurse, beside deceased’s bed, supporting her head. On examining her he found she was dead. The body was warm and deceased had not been dead more than a few minutes. There was no sign of unusual bleeding. That day he had made a post mortem examination and found the after-birth was adhered over the whole of the upper and right side of the womb; the heart was dilated and full of blood and the vital valve of the heart was diseased. The cause of death was heart failure produced by the strain of labor and a diseased heart. The nurse had given the patient every attention and sent promptly for medical assistance; was of opinion the result would not have been altered had he arrived earlier. Elizabeth Ann Robertson, certificated nurse was in attendance on Mrs. Leary. Came between 10 and 11 o’clock on Friday morning, being sent for. On arrival Mrs. Leary was about the house. About 2 or 3 o’clock in the afternoon she said she felt weak and would go to bed. The child was born at 5.30 p.m. About 6.30 told Mr. Leary he had better go for a doctor, because the afterbirth did not come away. The doctor arrived shortly after 9 p.m. Did not think Mrs. Leary was then dead. Deceased had not lost an unusual quantity of blood, but complained of pains about the heart. To the jury; Deceased was conscious for a while after the child was born. She asked for her husband, as she felt herself to be sinking and spoke of the children as being sorry to leave them. Deceased was not quite 30 years of age. Michael Leary, husband of deceased, corroborated the previous evidence. His wife had not previously seemed very ill. She was a native of the Huon. Eva Elson gave immaterial evidence
The jury found that deceased died from heart failure produced by labour pains and heart disease.
The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving Kindred at noon for the Forth cemetery.

Nora Leary (O’Sullivan)

A very sad bereavement was sustained by Mr Michael Leary on Friday evening in the loss of his wife, who was but in her 29th year. The death was quite unexpected and the sad event leaves the bereaved husband in charge of three young children, the youngest being an infant. The family are well know and much respected and keen and general sympathy has been aroused by the unexpected event. Mrs. Leary was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan, of Port Cygnet and came to this district some five years ago from Zeehan. Previously to living on the West Coast Mr. Leary had been resident here he is a brother to Mr. Denis Leary, of Forth and Mr. Jas Leary, of Melrose Creek. The funeral leaves the husband’s residence for the Forth cemetery to-day at noon.
