Fracture of the skull
A sad accident happened to one of the workmen in the employ of Messrs. Cummings & Co., at the Don, on Friday, 25th ult. A man named Patrick McGuire, with several other men, were pulling mangolds, when they were overtaken by a storm and took shelter in a hollow tree. While there they saw a tree a short distance off falling towards them, and fearing that it would fall on the one in which they were standing, they made a rush to get out: in doing so one of the limbs of the falling tree struck McGuire on the head and killed him on the spot.
