MERRIMAN – On the 13th inst., at Nurse Kirkham’s private hospital, Latrobe, Lydia Hannah (Nance), third daughter of the late Rev. H. E. Merriman.

The funeral of the late Miss Merriman will leave Latrobe at 2.30 p.m. THIS DAY for the place of interment, the Don cemetery.

The death occurred at the Latrobe private hospital early yesterday morning of Miss Lydia Hannah (Nance) Merriman, third daughter of the late Rev. H. H. Merriman, who was located in Devonport some ten years ago. The deceased had been ailing for a lengthy period and gradually became weaker. She was a sister of the late Mrs. F. W. Coulter, of Devonport, and also of Miss Merriman, who at one time conducted the Lindula High School in Devonport, and her death will be regretted by a large circle of friends. The funeral will take place at the Don cemetery at 2.30-p.m. to day.

Death of Rev. H. E. Merriman

Yesterday the intelligence reached Devonport of the death of the Rev. H. E. Merriman, a well-known Methodist minister. After retiring from active circuit work he came to Devonport over three years ago as a supernumerary minister, remained here about a year and then returned to the mainland and was performing temporary ministerial duties in South Australia. His daughters the Misses Merriman remained at Devonport, and in consequence of this bereavement the Lindula High School will be closed to day.
