FUNERAL

The funeral of the late Mary Ann Mitchell will leave her late residence, William Street, West Devonport, THIS DAY, at 2.30 for the Don cemetery. Friends please accept this intimation.

The death occurred yesterday morning of Mary Ann Mitchell, relict of the late Mr. Noel ( John) Mitchell, in her 82nd year. Deceased had been an invalid for the past 14 or 15 years. Her husband predeceased her some 14 years ago. The late Mrs. Mitchell was born in Norfolk, England, and had been a resident of the State for 51 years. She leaves five sons and one daughter (Mrs. McGregor) to mourn their loss, four sons and three daughters having predeceased her. Her sons alive are Messrs. Herbert, Thomas, William, James and Frederick. The deceased was well respected by a large circle of friends.

Late Mr. J. Mitchell, Sprent

“A.J.S.” writes: – Old residents of Don were sorry to read in “The Advocate” of the sudden death of Mr. John Mitchell, of Sprent. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell, residents of Don in the late 1860’s and 1870’s, who afterwards removed to Devonport, where two of their sons, Fred and Tom, still reside. John served his time with the late Mr. Martin Thompson, of Latrobe.

There passed away at her late residence, “Hove”, Best Street, yesterday afternoon, Mrs. Elizabeth Mitchell, in her 92nd year of her age. The deceased lady, who was a sister-in-law of the late Hon. John Henry, leaves no family. Her husband predeceased her many years ago.

The funeral took place at the Bluff Cemetery yesterday afternoon of the late Miss Doris Pretoria Mitchell, the 19 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Mitchell, of Fenton Street. Services at the house and graveside were conducted by the Rev. J. Williams. There were many very beautiful tributes and numerous messages of sympathy were received by the sorrowing family. Messrs. J. Webster, J. Riggs, J. McCall and J. Sharman were the bearers, while the chief mourners were deceased’s father and uncle.

OBITUARY

The death occurred at the residence of her parents in Parker Street, on Saturday, of Miss Ruth Stella Mitchell, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mitchell, of Devonport. The late Miss Mitchell, who had lived in Devonport all her life, had for some time past been in failing health and the end was not altogether unexpected. The funeral will leave her parents’ residence at 2.30 to day for the Bluff cemetery.
