DEATH OF MR. L. MOORE
We regret to have to record the death of Mr. Lorenzo Moore, the well-known solicitor, which occurred at his residence, East Devonport, early yesterday morning. The aged gentleman, for he was 74 years of age, had been visibly failing for some time and about eighteen months ago met with an accident at his residence, East Devonport, which disabled him and confined him to the house, after which visits to West Devonport were very infrequent but he was “over the river” about a fortnight ago. The late Mr. Moore was a son of the late Rev. Lorenzo Moore of Nelson, N.Z., where he was married in 1886, coming shortly after to Tasmania and settling at West Devonport (then Formby). Having been trained for the legal profession he was enrolled as a barrister and solicitor on February 14 1889 so that he was the oldest practitioner on the River Mersey, having practiced his profession over 27 years. He took a keen interest in public matters and was for a few years a member of the Devonport Town Board. He leaves a widow, with a family of seven, six sons and one daughter – Harold Edward, Cyril Arthur, Wilfred Anthony, Lorenzo Rex, Angela Mary, Randolph Earl and Lancelot Ogle. The eldest son is married in America, the youngest son and Miss Moore are at home and the remaining four sons are all serving the Empire in the war – a very creditable and patriotic record. A brother of Mr. Moore’s survives him in New Zealand and a sister was married to the late Sir John Gorst, of Castle Comb, Cricket Hill House, Yately House, Hants, England, who recently passed away. The mention of the latter’s residence calls to mind the fact that the late Mr. Moore was an ardent lover of cricket and his familiar figure was always to be seen at any local matches of the noble game. The funeral of the deceased gentleman will leave his late residence, East Devonport at 2.30 p.m. to-day for the Mersey Bluff cemetery, as a daughter of his has previously been buried there.

MOORE – On February 10, at her residence, 21 Edward Street, Devonport, Harriet Eva Moore, relict of the late Lorenzo Moore and 76 years
The Advocate 11 February 1933
Late Mrs. Harriet E. Moore.
The funeral of the late Mrs. Harriet Eva Moore took place yesterday, the cortege moving from her late residence Edward Street, Devonport, to the Bluff cemetery. There was a large con course including many old residents. The chief mourner was the son, Mr. Lance Moore, of Burnie. The Carriers were Messrs. J. Parsons, D. Young and Roland and Bruce Orme. Among the wreaths were tokens from the Devon Hospital staff and the Burnie branch of the Commercial Bank of Australia. The service was conducted by Rev. J. F. C. Ashworth.
Mrs. Moore was a resident of Devonport for 40 years. Born in Wales, she emigrated to New Zealand when quite young and then came to Tasmania with her late husband, Mr. Lorenzo Moore, who for many years practiced as a solicitor at Devonport and died 17 years ago and who was one of the leading residents of Devonport in other years.
There was a family of six sons and two daughters, of whom four sons and one daughter (Nurse Angela Moore) are still living. Five of the sons served in the war, one as a member of the American expedition. Cyril Moore made the supreme sacrifice and Wilfred, who was badly gassed, died in Hobart in 1924. Two of the sons are in Tasmania; John in Hobart and Lance is on the staff of the Commercial bank of Australia at Burnie.
