Death of Mrs. Jas Powlett
Quite a gloom was cast over Railton when it became known that Mrs. Powlett had succumbed yesterday to the effects of a paralytic seizure she had some three or four weeks ago. Up till the last few days she appeared to be progressing favorably, and hopes were entertained of her ultimate recovery. It is thought she had a second seizure, as she became unconscious a few days ago and gradually sank. Mrs. Powlett was well known throughout the district for her gentle and kindly disposition. She leaves a family of five girls and four boys to mourn their loss. (Née Edwards)

MEMORIAM
POWLETT – In loving memory of Mary Ann, the beloved wife of James Powlett, who died on the 30th August, 1907, at Sunnyside, Railton
She is gone, but not forgotten,
She is not with us today,
But the thought of her is something
That will not pass away,
Her cheerful smile and loving face,
Is pleasant to recall,
She had a kindly word for each,
And died, beloved by all.
Inserted by her husband and family.

The body will be bought to Devonport by the Oonah to-morrow, and the funeral will leave the wharf at about 2 p.m. for the old cemetery at Don. The Advocate 23rd March 1926

Pioneer’s Death
Rarely has more sincere regret been felt, right through this and surrounding districts, than when it became known that Mr. Jas. Powlett, Sen., had passed away on the mainland. The late Mr. Powlett was indeed one of the earliest pioneers of the Kentish municipality, having known the district before either Sheffield or Railton had come into existence. It can be unhesitatingly stated that no man ever possessed a higher sense of honesty and uprightness than the late Mr. Powlett. The remains were interred yesterday at the Don cemetery.
