General sympathy is expressed for Mr. E. Radford in his sad bereavement through the death of his wife, which took place at his residence, Waratah, on Friday last. Deceased had only been a resident at Waratah a few days, her husband having come from Burnie to assist in the cartage of ore from the Long Tunnel tramway to Waratah. Deceased was a daughter of Mr. A. Hamilton, Forth, and had only been married 12 months. She took ill the Thursday before her death. The remains were taken by rail on

Youth Drops Dead
Sad Case at Devonport
The death took place with tragic suddenness at Devonport yesterday morning of Roydon Horace (Roy) Radford; a youth aged 16 years and three months.
The deceased rose as usual in the morning and appeared to be in his ordinary state of health and vigour. After partaking of breakfast he went out in the yard to catch a fowl. He chased it up and down the yard several times, and having caught and killed it he went to the house and gave it to his mother. This was about 8.30 a.m. He then leant against the back-door post for about five minutes. He remarked that one of the horses in the yard appeared to be getting very fat, and then his mother noticed him fall face downwards on the ground, close to one of his younger brothers, and near the baby. She thought it was just a game that her son was having with the infant, and called out to him to get up from the ground. He did not move, and she went to him, and noticing his face, saw that there was something wrong with the lad. She took his head in her arms and he gasped once or twice, appearing to be quite unconscious.
Mrs. E. Harvey, a neighbour, and Miss Lean, matron of the Girls’ Friendly Society Hostel, were quickly on the scene, and first aid methods were resorted to, but without success. In the meantime Dr. Payne had been summoned by telephone, and, arriving on the scene shortly after the arrival of the matron, pronounced life extinct. An examination failed to indicate the cause of death, and it was decided that a post mortem would be conducted.
The deceased had never complained of feeling unwell, and always appeared to be in very good health. Symptoms point to the fact that there was probably some weakness of the heart.
The deceased was the second son of Mrs. Jean Radford, and the late Mr. Ernest Radford, of the Don Road, Devonport, and for some time had been engaged in the woodcutting trade.
Yesterday afternoon Dr. Payne conducted a post mortem examination and found that the lad’s death was due to heart disease, and a certificate to that effect was returned.
It is not expected that an inquest will be necessary.
The funeral had been arranged to leave the grandmother’s resident on the Don Road at 2.30 tomorrow for the old Don cemetery.

Last Sad Rites
There was a large attendance at the funeral of the late Roydon Horace (Roy) Radford, who on Wednesday suddenly collapsed and died owing to a disease of the heart. The funeral was conducted yesterday afternoon by the Rev. F. J. Thomas, who held impressive services at the house and at the graveside. The chief mourners were the brother of the deceased, Mr. G. Radford, and Messrs Tom and Jack Hamilton, uncles. A large number of other relatives also attended. There was a very fine display of floral tributes, and the attendance serviced to show the sympathy, which was felt for the bereaved family. The pallbearers were four cousins of the deceased lad.
