OBITUARY

Mrs. Arthur Robertson



Quite a gloom was cast over the Kindred district last Friday, when it be came known that Mrs. Arthur Robertson had passed away. The deceased was the only daughter of Mr and Mrs George Keep, of Kindred and was born at Spreyton. In her 19th year, she entered the Devon Hospital, Latrobe, a fortnight ago, and was expecting to return home yesterday, but died suddenly on Friday morning. Deceased leaves a baby six weeks old.

The funeral took place at Kindred yesterday afternoon and was one of the largest seen in the district. Fifty motors and horse drawn vehicles followed to the Methodist cemetery. Rev. B. Crisp conducted service at the home and at the grave. The chief mourners were Mr. Arthur Robertson (husband), Mr. and Mrs. G. Keep (Parents), Messrs. Arthur Keep (brother), E., L. and R. Keep, F., R. and J. Foster (uncles), D., A. and W. Robertson, J. F. Wright, W. Polden, L. Yaxley and B. Jordan (brother-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Foster, Mr. W. H. Keep (grandparents). The carriers were Messrs. D. and A. Robertson, L. Keep and F. Foster. The pall-bearers were Messrs. R. Bishop, B. Moore, L. Whiteley and R. Lehman. There were a large number of wreaths.

After three weeks' illness in the Levenbank Hospital, Ulverstone, Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Robertson died yesterday morning. Mrs. Robertson lived for 51 years at Bannockburn, Kindred. Her husband died 23 years ago. Born at Deloraine in 1845, Mrs. Robertson was the eldest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs. John Russell. The earliest part or her life she spent with her parents at Greens' Creek and later she moved with them to Kindred, where she married the late Mr. William Robertson. She leaves a family of four sons and six daughters.
The funeral will take place at Kindred to-morrow afternoon.

There was a large attendance at the funeral at the Methodist Cemetery, Kindred, yesterday of Mrs. Elizabeth Robertson, who died at the Levenbank Hospital, Ulverstone, on Monday. Rev. A. Vineer (Ulverstone), assisted by Pastor R Denney (Forth), conducted services at the house and graveside. The chief mourners were Messrs. David, William, Arch and Arthur Robertson (sons), John and William Russell (brothers). S. Moore and F Geale (brothers-in-law), R. Chatwin, W. Polden, J. F. Wright, B. Jordan and L. Yaxley (sons-in-law), and Mesdames J Howard, F. Geale and P. and A. Gardiner (sisters). Mrs. Robertson also left six daughters - Mesdames R. Chatwin (Gawler), W. Polden (Kindred), J. F. Wright (Ulverstone), B. Jordan (Kindred) L. Yaxley (Kindred), and Miss L. Robinson (Kindred).
The pall-bearers were Messrs. A. Hays, B. Moore, Ira Elliott and G. Keep. Messrs. F. Wright, R. Chatwin, W. Polden and L. Yaxley were the carriers. Among a large number of wreaths were those from members of the Leven Red Cross Society and the Ulverstone Methodist Sunday School.
