Bluff Pioneer Cemetery Devonport

The death occurred yesterday of Mr. John Thoms after a brief illness. The deceased, who was in his 40th year, was an employee at Finlaysons foundry and was only ill one week, the cause of death being pneumonia. He leaves a widow and three young children to mourn their loss. Mr. Thoms was a very steady and industrious tradesman and the firm much regrets his unexpected death. The funeral takes place at the Bluff Cemetery at 3 o’clock this afternoon.

FUNERAL

THOMS – The funeral of the late John Thoms will leave his late residence, Nichols Street, west Devonport, at 3 p.m., to-day, for the Bluff Cemetery

The funeral of the late Mr. John Thoms took place at the Mersey Bluff cemetery yesterday afternoon. Messrs. Finlayson Bros.’ Foundry closed for the afternoon, and all deceased’s fellow workmen testified their respect by following the remains to their last resting place. The pall-bearers were Messrs. A. W. Habner, H. P. Large, F. Marshall and A. W. West. The religious services were conducted by Mr. Geo Finlayson, assisted by Mr. Thos. Compton.
