One of the most highly esteemed residents of the district, in the person of Mr. Thomas Trebilcock, passed away on Monday evening at his residence at Kindred. The deceased was a very old resident of the Coast, and was highly respected for his sterling qualities. He was a man of the strictest integrity, of genial temperament, unfailing kindness and hospitality. Mr. Trebilcock was born in Cornwall (England) nearly 75 years ago and came to Tasmania with his parents at the age of seven in the brig "Indian." The family settled at King's Meadows, near Launceston, afterwards removing to Deloraine and subsequently to Forth Beach, where Mr. Trebilcock, began farming on his own account. About twenty-one years ago he purchased the property at Kindred on which he resided till his death. He had been in failing health for the past twelve months and suffered much from rheumatism and also heart trouble. The immediate cause of death was pneumonia, to which complaint he succumbed after a short acute attack. The deceased leaves a widow and a family of seven sons - George, Reginald, Mason and Charles (who are now living at Kindred) Philip and Roy (in New Zealand) and Thomas (in Queensland) and two daughters - Mrs. H. Cox (Ulverstone) and Miss F. Trebilcock who resides at the homestead with her mother. The funeral leaves the late residence of the deceased at 2.30 p.m. today for the Kindred cemetery

Our Kindred correspondent wrote on Monday: Quite a gloom was cast over our district when it became known that Mr. T. Trebilcock's third son had passed away, as it is only six weeks since his eldest daughter was buried. Great sorrow is felt for the family, as in addition to this, they have had a lot of sickness. The funeral took place on Monday and was followed by a large number of sympathising friends from all parts of the surrounding districts, as the family are respected and have endeared themselves to all whom they have come in contact with. The Revs J. R. Bradbury and McPhie officiated at the grave.

Among those on whom more than the average amount of trouble has fallen of late are Mr and Mrs Trebilcock, of the Kindred. It is only about twelve months since that one son met with an accident, causing a long and expensive illness, from which, however, he has recovered. Only recently a daughter (Mrs. A. Chatwin) died, after a long illness and on Sunday they lost a son. The young fellow, who had been ailing some time, went off very suddenly in the end. General sympathy is expressed for the bereaved parents.

IN MEMORIAM
TREBILCOCK In memory of Willie Trebilcock, who died on Sunday, July 25
God has called our brother home,
He bade him take his rest.
His gentle voice it whispered come,
He clasped him to His breast.
Away from earthly toil and care,
Our brother took his flight.
To heaven, the faithful Christian's share,
Where all is pure and bright.
He's reached that fair and happy land,
The bright celestial shore;
He's numbered with the heavenly band,
With Christ for evermore.
Wearing the glittering, golden crown,
Clad in the garment of white,
Singing the everlasting song
With the beautiful angels of light.
His fighting's o'er, the battle's ceased,
The victory has been won;
He's resting now in perfect peace,
Through God's redeeming Son.
He lived for God and heaven above,
He died in God, 'twas gain;
If we to Christ will faithful prove
We'll meet our Willie again.

FUNERAL
The funeral of the late Mrs. E. Trebilcock will lave her daughters (Mrs. P. Thompson) residence, Hamilton on Forth, this day (Thursday), at 3 p.m., for the Forth Wesleyan Cemetery
The North West Post 9th June 1898
During the current year the last summons has come to many old and respected residents of West Devon, particularly at the Forth where the ranks of the pioneers have been sadly thinned. On Tuesday evening yet another passed away, in the person of Mrs. Elizabeth Trebilcock, who died at the residence of her daughter (Mrs. Thompson) at the ripe old age of 84. Deceased, who in her comparative youth, some fifty years ago, was left a widow with a large family of three sons and six daughters has been a resident of Forth since the early days. All her children survive her and all are honoured members of the communities in which they reside. The deceased lady also leaves a number of grandchildren and several great grand children. Three of the daughters are married to Wesleyan ministers – one to the Rev. R. O. Cook, another to the Rev. W. B. Matthews and the Rev. E. Nye, of New Norfolk, is a grandson of the deceased. The funeral will leave the residence of the daughter of the deceased, Mrs. P. Thompson, at 3 o’clock this afternoon, for the Forth Wesleyan Cemetery.
