DEATH

WINSOR – On April 12, at the Metropole, Devonport, Alice Winsor, dearly beloved wife of the late William Winsor, aged 77 years. Forever with the Lord.

The death took place at the Metropole, Devonport, on Saturday of Mrs. Alice Winsor, of Launceston, at the age of 77 years. Deceased was the relict of the late William Winsor, of Devonport, who died about 10 years ago. Since then she had been living with relatives, latterly with her daughter, Mrs. Frisco, of Launceston. She and her daughter came to Devonport about a fortnight ago for a change of scene, but towards the end of the week the old lady developed serious illness as stated. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, interment being at the Bluff cemetery alongside the remains of her late husband. The service was conducted by several members of the exclusive brethren of Launceston

FUNERAL

The funeral of the late William Richard Winsor will leave his late residence, Elizabeth Street, Devonport, at 3.30 p.m. today, for the Bluff Cemetery.

The death of Mr. William R. Winsor occurred rather suddenly yesterday morning. On Sunday morning deceased attended service with the Brethren in the Town Hall. He became seriously ill the same night. Alarming symptoms set in on Monday and his relatives were sent for. Medical skill proved unavailable and he passed away from internal hemorrhage. Mr. Winsor, who settled here from Launceston some six years ago, was a builder of the old school. As he did all his own joinery, rather than use factory material. He was employed on the job of converting Barratt’s corner into its present modern style. He was verging upon three score and ten and leaves a widow and grown up family. The funeral takes place this afternoon at the Bluff Cemetery.

The funeral of the late Mr. W. R. Winsor took place at the Mersey Bluff yesterday afternoon. Brethren attended from Launceston, Chudleigh, Kentish and Burnie as well as several representative citizens and neighbors, who attended to show the last token of respect to an upright resident. The immediate mourners were the widow and daughter of the deceased. Arrived at the graveside the religious exercises were participated in by Messrs. Friend, Haywood, Lee and Smith.

As announced elsewhere, an auction sale in connection with the estate of the late Mr. W. R. Winsor will be held on the premises, Elizabeth Street, on Friday, commencing at 11 a.m. It will be conducted by Mr. Magnus Smith, in conjunction with Messrs. Potts and Son and the sale will include the property, which is a conveniently built residence, with adjoining land, together with superior furniture, some being of figured Blackwood and substantially made by deceased. Other lines are three contractors’ portable huts or offices, with saw bench, boring and mortising machines, lathe and a full assortment of carpenter’s tools, black-smiths forge, ladders, wheelbarrows and numerous other contractor’ necessaries. There is also a supply of specially-selected seasoned Blackwood and pine. All lots must be sold, owing to the regretted death of the proprietor and the sale thus presents an opportunity for securing bargains in the lines quoted that may never occur again.
